  • Cottonfab, An Exhibition on ethnic wear: This is a grand exhibition of traditional silk and cotton wear from different places within the country and is held in Salem.  The Awadh Hathkargha Hastshilp Evam Gramodyog Samiti of Lucknow organizes it where stalls are given on cotton and silk fabrics besides other handloom products from different states of India.

    This is a significant time to tour Salem as indigenous varieties of silk and cotton fabrics of Indian states come under display. For example, Lucknow Chikankari, Kota silk from Rajasthan, Benaras silk from Uttar Pradesh, cotton silks and Madurai silk from Tamil Nadu, silk saris and woollen shawls from kashmir, Mooga silk from Assam, lightweight Maheshwari and Chanderi silk from Madhya Pradesh, Ghiccha and Kosa silk from Bihar are all showcased underthe same roof. Besides these, embroidered sofa covers, bedspreads, and jewellery are also on display.

  • Build Expo Exhibition in Salem: Organized by the Salem Civil Engineer's Association, the Build expo exhibition was last held in Salem between 5th and 9th December 2013 in Rathnavel Gounder Kalyana Mandapam in Saradha College Road. It had about 150 stalls which exhibited all construction materials, consultancies, technologies, property shows, innovative techniques, and investment opportunities which would help all the people within the civil engineering and construction industry.

    Organized successfully in 15 consecutive years, the Build expo also seeks to spread the knowledge of construction and related activities to the general public. The enormity of the event is well advertised through leading newspapers, mega size hoardings, T.V. channels, hand bills, internet and email and other technological options.

    Some of the stalls are based on construction materials and equipment, interior decorators, property develops, doors and windows, Upvc windows, aluminium windows, floor finishing materials, steel and seccolar windows, structural glazing, wall and floor tiles, elevation work, all cladding works, partitions, painting, protective coating, landscaping, solar energy concepts, modular kitchens, and many others.


  • Government Exhibition in Salem: There is also a 45 day government exhibition which has been held in Salem for the past 30 years, where stalls exhibit the activities of the different government departments within the state. This exhibition of government and 69 private stalls was inaugurated by K.T. Rajenthra balaji who is the Minister for Information, Special Programme Implementation at the Bose Maidan. The other Minister at the venue was Minister for Highways and Minor Ports Edapaddi K. Palaniswami.

    The government stalls at this exhibition aim to portray the ongoing projects, activities, and welfare schemes, and other activities of different government departments of the state for the knowledge of the general public. Apart from these, cultural programmes and general competitions are also held to spice up the exhibition.

    The venue is guarded by police personnel and the fire and rescue service department to avoid untoward incidents. Ambulance is also given at the site. All the basic amenities like drinking water and toilet facility is given for the benefit of the general public at the Maidan.
